City Of Paris Receives Grant For Downtown Improvements

Paris, Tenn.—The city of Paris has announced it is one of the recipients of a Commercial Façade Improvement Grant for downtown improvements.
Economic Development Director Jennifer Morris said, “This grant comes to us from the State of Tennessee’s Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and will be used to improve commercial buildings in the downtown district.”
The city’s “Tennessee Main Street” designation made Paris eligible for the grant, which was received through a competitive application process.  The grant can be used for improvements including new awnings and signs, painting, windows and doors, brick repair and other upgrades.
Individual grants will be available to qualifying downtown properties with a 25% match.  The application process will begin with a property owner’s meeting on January 16 at 5 p.m. in the Courtroom of City Hall.  At this meeting city officials will inform property owners of the process for application as well as the construction process.
Property owners in the district will be receiving a notification separately by mail that should answer any questions prior to the meeting.
Morris said, “We appreciate this opportunity provided to us by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and look forward to the improvements to our downtown.”
