Winners Of DPA Coloring Contest Named

Paris, Tenn.–The Downtown Paris Association (DPA) recently announced winners of the coloring contest celebrating Clifford the Big Red Dog. The contest was sponsored by K & B Supplies for Success, which donated two baskets of art supplies and goodies for the winning artists.

Chandler Stout was the top artist of the Kindergarten – 2nd grade group. Ali Ridgeway was the winning 3rd – 5th grade artist. “Both of these youngsters did an excellent job,” said Brenda Evans, of K & B. “There’s nothing sweeter than a festive Christmas drawing colored by a youngster.”

Julia Hendrix and Breanna Hogan, both art students at Henry County High School created the sketches. “I think they must have been fans of Clifford when they were children, because they did such a great job with these sketches,” said Evans.

Clifford was grand marshal of the Holly Jolly Electric Christmas Parade. WLJT Public Broadcasting Station brought Clifford and his pal, Rocky T the Reading Ranger. Children lined the parade route for a chance to see this celebrity of books, cartoons and movies.

Between both age groups, approximately 400 students entered the contest. “We were so excited that so many youngsters took part,” said Jennifer Shell of WLJT. “Clifford and Rocky T had a great time in the parade. We look forward to being in Henry County again soon.”

The drawings have been posted on the windows of K & B at 312 North Market. “We know that Santa will be swooping down Market Street on Christmas Eve,” said Evans. “We just wanted to give him something fun to look at as he flies past.”
