Dover, Tenn.—It was a perfect day Saturday for the Wreaths Across America event at Fort Donelson National Cemetery.
For the second year, Fort Donelson National Cemetery served as a host site for this program. More than 1,400 memorial sites, like Donelson, gathered to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve and their families and Teach the future generations about the sacrifices made to preserve our freedoms.
That is, to Remember the fallen, Honor those who serve and their families, and Teach the future generations about the sacrifices made to preserve our freedoms.
Coordinated by Douglas M. Lyons Dover Post #72, Division of Tennessee, well over 150 people were in attendance for the ceremony, followed by the placement of more than 520 wreaths in front of grave markers located across the historic cemetery of 1,718 grave markers.
The public is encouraged to make your way to Fort Donelson to view and pay tribute to those represented by the placed wreaths. If not in our immediate area, consider some of the sister national cemeteries – including those at Stones River; Shiloh; Corinth; Andersonville; Andrew Johnson; Vicksburg; and others..
