Martin, Tenn.—A 75-year-old woman from Dresden was killed in a two-car accident which occurred Sunday night on State Route 22 in Weakley County.

Killed in the accident was Jeanette Janes, age 75, of Dresden.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol released the accident report to WENK/WTPR early this morning.

Two children from Paris were injured in the accident, according to the THP report.

Lt. Brad Wilbanks said Janes was driving a 2008 Jeep Compass south on Ralston Rd. and a 2001 Jeep Wrangler driven by Julia Anderson, age 19, of Portland, Tenn., was northbound on Route 22.

Janes’ vehicle failed to yield to Anderson’s vehicle at the Ralston Road/Route 22 intersection which caused Anderson’s vehicle to strike Janes’ vehicle with its front end on its driver side.

Jane’s passengers were an 11-year-old and a nine-year-old from Paris and both were injured. The THP report does not indicate the extent of their injuries.

The THP report does state that both drivers were wearing seat belts and that drugs or alcohol were not involved.
