Union City, Tenn.—Union City Police have been called to 3 J’s convenience store at 1500 E. Reelfoot Ave. on reports of three counterfeit $100 bills being passed there.
The first occurred Wednesday when a woman came twice in one day and passed two counterfeit $100 bills that had the same serial number. She first came to the store at 7:18 p.m. and bought a pack of gum and received change from the fake $100 bill. She came again at 7:30 p.m. and prepaid gas for $10 and received change. She is described as a black woman, wearing a black coat and has braided hair. She was a passenger in a dark gray Chevy Malibu, but the driver did not come in to the store. According to the police report, the license plate could not be read on the surveillance video.
The second incident occurred on Thursday when another counterfeit bill was passed by a man who bought beers and got change. The man was identified through the video and police went to his residence on Ury Street in Union City. The man told police he had gotten the $100 bill when he cashed his check in Troy.
