Henry School To Be Featured At Holly Jolly Parade

Paris, Tenn.–Henry Elementary School has been selected as the featured school at Saturday’s 11th Annual Holly Jolly Electric Christmas Parade, which is set for 5 p.m. in downtown Paris, immediately following the Downtown Christmas Festival. The Christmas Festival will be held fro 3-5 p.m.

Henry Principal David Kibbler said the Henry School kids and staff will be bringing a lot of joy to the parade. “We were so pleased to have been asked to be the 2017 featured school,” he said. “We have had a great semester and have seen an increase in student achievement, thanks to our dedicated parents, student, faculty and partners. That’s a great Christmas present, and now we can celebrate by helping lead the parade and spreading Christmas cheer.”

The Board of Education will be joining Henry School in the parade, and they won’t be wearing their usual attire, according to Dr. Susan Burton of the central staff.  “We thought it would be fun to dress up as snow people and walk together on the parade route. This is a fun way to support everyone at Henry and have a great time together.”

“We’re tickled that the board will be here in support of us,” Kibbler said. “We have had Christmas concerts and Supper with Santa, so the parade will put the icing on our Christmas cake.”

Those in charge of Henry School’s parade participation have been busy the last few months turning ideas into entries. “I love Christmas, so I was thrilled about working with the other teachers, parents and students to make this not only a special entry, but a meaningful one for our students,” Teacher Amy Williams said. “Our goal is for them to remember this night of twinkling lights, school friends, Christmas music and the applauding crowd for the rest of their lives.”

While the fifth-grade teacher was tight lipped about the school’s theme for the parade, Williams noted that their entries will be “filled with the Christmas spirit and will make spectators happy that they came downtown.”

“We are so glad to have the students of Henry Elementary helping to lead the parade,” Parade Chair Vickey Roberts said. “I’ve always heard Henry described as a happy, enthusiastic school with a terrific faculty, staff and student body. I think the community will see that personified on Saturday as they help Henry County celebrate Christmas.”
