Paris Tenn.—The Cookie Monster Tree from Sweet Jordan’s won Best of Show in the annual Festival of Trees, which opened this morning in downtown Paris.
Everyone was in the Christmas spirit this morning and a crowd was on hand to view the trees on display at this year’s Festival of Trees, which is located at the new downtown event center at 110 W. Washington St. on the court square.
Other winners announced during the event:
In the Most Traditional category: First Place, FirstBank; Second, Henry County officials; and Third, Commercial Bank.
In Most Creative: First Place, TVCC, Second, BPU; and Third, Henry County Board of Education.
In the category of thinking “Out of the Box”, the Krider Performing Arts Center won, with the W.G. Rhea Library winning Best Theme.
People visiting the Festival of Trees can vote on the Peoples’ Choice. It will be on display through December 17, with hours from Tuesday through Fridays, 11 to 4; Saturdays 10-2 and Sundays 1-4.
Speakers at this morning’s event were new Chamber Director Travis McLeese, Downtown Paris Association Director Kathy Ray and Event Center Owner Vickey Roberts, who along with her husband Ed has newly-restored the building. The Event Center will be open for events, meetings, and a back alley area for outdoor parties. Its formal name is “The Old Paris 5 & 10 Event Center”.
