Investigation Into Man’s Death With Deputy’s Weapon

 
Dover, Tenn.—An investigation is ongoing after a man allegedly killed himself with a gun belonging to an off-duty Stewart County Sheriff’s deputy.
 
The TBI has confirmed that it was requested by 23^rd District Attorney General Ray Crouch to look into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Porfirio Avila, age 35, of Indian Mound Saturday night.
 
TBI Spokesman Josh DeVine said in an email to media: “Preliminary information indicates the shooting was self-inflicted and involved the service weapon of an off-duty deputy from the Stewart County Sheriff’s Department.”
