Huge Turnout At The Shed Christmas Event

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director

Paris, Tenn.—Santa and Mrs. Claus came to The Shed Saturday morning—and most everyone else did, too. A huge crowd was on hand for The Shed’s first Christmas Open House, which included free milk and cookies and free toys, courtesy of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and The Shed, and free blankets given away by Sulphur Well Church of Christ.

Cars were lined up from the back of the sheriff’s office, where The Shed is located, almost to the street and huge crowds of children enjoyed having their photos taken with Santa. Even Sheriff Monte Belew and his mother, Jackie, had their photos taken with Mr. Claus.

Santa arrived in a sheriff’s cruiser.

The Shed is operated by Deputy Michelle Brewer, who is the School Resource Officer at Rhea School. Brewer was thrilled at the turnout and gave tours of The Shed to those who were on hand.

The Shed is a place where needy folks can get clothing, shoes and other items for free with no bureaucratic red tape. The Shed operates from donations and with volunteers.
