Paris, Tenn.—Stop by The Toggery in downtown Paris and tell Owners Charles and Edna Hopkins “Happy Anniversary” today. Happy 100th Anniversary of The Toggery, that is. Charles tells us that today is the actual day that The Toggery opened 100 years ago in 1917. The business has continuously operated in one place with the same name longer than any other business in Paris. It has only had three managers in its 100 years: John Currier, Bernis Beard and Charles Hopkins. In photos, The Toggery in an early photo, taken a few years after it opened; Charles and Edna Hopkins were feted last summer at a surprise gathering outside the courthouse to commemorate The Toggery’s year-long 100th anniversary.
