Knoxville, Tenn.—John Currie is out as University of Tennessee Athletic Director, after only eight months on the job.
The University has not yet issued a formal statement on Currie’s dismissal.
According to reports from Knoxville-area radio stations, Currie attended a very short meeting Friday morning at the office of Chancellor Beverly Davenport. When asked if he had been fired, Currie refused comment.
Currie has been under fire from UT fans after several attempts to hire a new head coach have failed. Former UT Football Coach Butch Jones was fired in November.
