Paris, Tenn.—A Springville man has been charged with posting death threats against Henry County Sheriff Monte Belew and a former county prosecutor.
Brian Neu, age 50, of Winsett Rd., has been specifically charged with five counts of assault, retaliation for past actions and failure to appear.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, “These charges stem from Neu publicly posting death threats to Sheriff Monte Belew. Neu stated in the posts that Belew ‘would be put to death for treason against America’”.
In the postings, according to the release, “Neu also stated that the Gods had spoken to him and Sheriff Belew was to be ‘put to death by hanging’. Neu goes on to mention the Grim Reaper.”
According to the press release, Neu also threatened the life of a former prosecuting attorney that was responsible for prosecuting past cases against Neu. He is currently being held on $21,000 bond and will appear in General Sessions on Thursday.
