Paris, Tenn.—The crowning touch of Paris’ new downtown event center was placed on the building Saturday when the Brown Sign Co. affixed the new sign at 110 W. Washington: “The Old Paris 5 & 10: An Event Center”.
The historic downtown building has housed a number of businesses over the years, including the original Paris 5 & 10 cent store. It now is owned by Ed and Vickey Roberts of Paris, who have been restoring the building over the past year or so.
The main floor, including a back patio, will be the event center, while apartments will be for rent on the second floor.
The first official event in the building will be the upcoming Festival of Trees, which will open at 8 a.m. Tuesday, December 5. At the opening, the Chamber will hold a coffee and nine awards will be presented to winners in several categories.
The Festival of Trees will be open through the holiday season, December 5 through 17, Tuesday through Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Sundays 1-4 p.m. A dollar donation is requested from each visitor.
