Union City, Tenn.—The Union City City Council last night heard an update on plans for the new Hampton Inn which will be built on Hwy. 51 S.
The new Hampton Inn will be built near where the Quality Inn is now located (which formerly was the Hampton).
The new four-story Hampton’s rooms will open from the inside, which is a requirement that the government and many businesses now require in order for their employees to stay there.
The new facility will offer an indoor swimming pool, exercise facility and other amenities.
Construction will begin the first of the year and should take about 14 months to complete. The property will be owned by Nathu, Inc.
Mayor Terry Hailey also reported on the property located at the corner of Edwards and Ethridge Lane which is rapidly becoming an eyesore for the neighbors and the city. He said neighbors are complaining about junk that is stored behind the property, on the side in old pickup trucks and now on the front porch.
City Manager Kathy Dillon said the city is working to get the property owner to clean up the property.
