Buchanan, Tenn.—Officials with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation today announced plans to raze the Paris Landing Inn to make way for a more modern—but smaller—facility in the same location.
TDEC Deputy Commissioner Brock Hill announced the decision to construct the new inn at an outdoor gathering of state and local officials with Kentucky Lake as the backdrop.
Architect Patrick Neuber from the GMC firm in Nashville presented preliminary plans and said, “Our new vision is something great, something grand”. Both he and Hill said a master plan has not yet been developed.
Hill said the current Inn will be destroyed early in 2018. He said the new Inn will feature single rooms and suites, a modern restaurant and be more accessible for boaters.
Also on hand at the announcement were Deputy Governor Ed Henry, State Rep. Tim Wirgau, State Sen. John Stevens, Henry County Mayor Brent Greer, Paris Mayor Carlton Gerrell, City Manager Kim Foster, Paris Landing Inn Manager Gary McIntire, Park Superintendent Joan Williams and TDEC officials.
Wirgau said the enhancements will leave a lasting legacy for the state’s children and grandchildren. Stevens called Paris Landing ‘one of the jewels of Tennessee” and said the present Inn has come to the end of its lifecycle.
Officials said the cabins, marina, golf course, and other amenities will remain open while the inn is being reconstructed. Current employees of the inn will be offered other employment with the state or will have an exit package while they are unemployed, said Hill.
