Deputy Crashes Patrol Car In Sunday’s Chase

Calloway County, Ky.—A Calloway County Deputy crashed his car into a tree during Sunday afternoon’s pursuit and stand-off which also involved deputies from Henry County.

As WENK/WTPR reported Sunday, the stand-off resulted in the death of Trevor Trull, age 33, of Cherry St., Puryear, when Trull shot himself.

The Kentucky State Police issued a press release noting that Calloway County Deputy Brandon Winebarger, age 37, of Hazel, crashed the patrol car during the pursuit. He was driving the cruiser southbound on Tearose Drive near the intersection of Wedgewood Drive. Approaching a sharp right curve, he steered his cruiser off the roadway to avoid another vehicle stopped in the roadway, striking a tree.

Senior Trooper Jody Cash told us Monday morning that Winebarger was responding to the earlier crash involving Trull, who also struck the tree during the pursuit.
