Trenton, Tenn.–Gibson Connect, a not-for-profit, wholly owned subsidiary of Gibson Electric Membership Corporation, has seen a milestone reached one day before the company’s one-month anniversary of its launch. On Thursday, Medina reached 50 percent of the required participation level for service. Close behind was Trenton South at 41 percent and Trenton North at 40 percent.
“We are seeing steady progress from all 27 of our zones,” says Gibson EMC and Gibson Connect President and CEO Dan Rodamaker. “This serves as a good indication that we are offering a much-need service that has the ability to improve the quality of life for our members.”
The cooperative attributes its early success to members who have elected to become champions of their zone. This means that they have volunteered to share information with their neighbors and encourage others in their zone to register.
“We are using a participation model that allows our members to drive our construction process. Much like Gibson EMC did in 1936 with electricity, we are providing a service that has been asked for by those in our service area,” Rodamaker says.
