Paris, Tenn.—Three people have been charged in connection with the suspicious death of a 20-year-old woman who was found dead in her car in July.
Emily Webb, age 20, of Paris, was found in her car on Blood River Church Rd. north of Buchanan. Investigators with the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have been investigating her death and the circumstances surrounding it.
Three people have now been charged with abuse of a corpse. They are: Delena Kerr, age 41, of 136 Gaston Drive, Buchanan; John Bradley Tharpe III, age 39, of 112 N. Porter St., Paris; and Charles J. Delk, age 37, of 622 Powell Street.
Secret indictments against the three were issued by the Henry County Grand Jury on Monday and the identities and charges of the three were released today.
Though Webb’s death was determined to be the result of a drug overdose, during the course of the investigation, authorities developed information that Delk, Kerr and Tharpe “rendered no aid and transported her remains to the rural location”, according to the TBI press release.
On Tuesday, authorities located Kerr at a residence in McKenzie, while officers from the Paris Police Department arrested Tharpe. Authorities subsequently booked both into the Henry County Jail, each on $20,000 bond. At the time of this release, Delk remained in the custody of authorities in Kentucky on unrelated charges.
Sheriff Monte Belew said this morning, “We’re glad that the investigation has come to a conclusion. We hate this situation for the family, but we’re glad there has been a conclusion. It represents a series of bad decisions by the people arrested.”
