Martin, Tenn.—The Martin Police is seeking the public’s help in solving a possible arson fire which heavily damaged a storage facility early Sunday morning. The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office is also investigating.
Captain Phillip Fuqua said the Martin Police and Martin Fire Departments responded to the storage building complex located at 108 Strand St. at 1:25 a.m. Sunday after patrol officers noticed smoke rising from the area.
The Martin Fire Department extinguished the fire that had already damaged several units within the facility, Fuqua said.
Martin Fire Department and Martin Police Department investigators began an investigation to determine the origin of the fire after the scene was made safe. It was discovered that the fire started inside one of the storage units. The fire is being investigated as a possible arson, according to Fuqua.
The State of TN Fire Marshall Fire Investigative Section was notified and investigators from that agency have since responded and joined the investigation. This investigation continues.
