“Rock The Belt” Activities This Week At Grove

Paris, TN.– SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) chapters, including HCHS Patriots in Action at Grove, are celebrating a nationwide Rock the Belt effort this week to educate schools, parents, and communities about the importance of wearing a seat belt.
As part of local activities, HCHS Patriots in Action at Grove is leading a number of activities to encourage both youth and adults to buckle up. These activities include:

• Chalk the Walk, sidewalk chalk art to remind the school and community how important it is to wear a seat belt. This happens early Tuesday morning.
• Living Seat Belt, a human chain around Grove Tower to raise awareness for the importance of wearing seat belts, at 8 a.m. Friday.
• Seat Belt Pledge Drive, to motivate students and staff to commit to always wear a seat belt
“Rock the Belt” Week is a nation-wide effort of all SADD chapters to bring awareness about teen traffic safety issues. Car crashes remain the leading cause of death among teens today, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) identifies seat belt use as the most effective strategy in preventing death and minimizing injuries. SADD and HCHS encourage youth and adults to buckle up – in every vehicle, in every seat, every time.
