Murray, Ky.– Ray W. Powers, age 49, of Murray, Kentucky has been found guilty of First Degree Rape and First Degree Sodomy in the Kentucky State Police investigation of a 2016 encounter he had with a female in Calloway County. The Kentucky State Police began their investigation in September of 2016, which led to Powers’ arrest on weapon, drug, and sex related charges.
The jury trial, which began Tuesday and ended Friday, was solely for the sex related offenses. The drug and weapons related charges are still pending in Calloway Circuit Court.
Formal sentencing will be conducted January 18, 2018 in Calloway Circuit Court by Judge James T. Jameson.
