Mineral Wells Clinic Observes Vet Tech Week

Paris, Tenn.—The good folks at Mineral Wells Veterinary Clinic are observing National Veterinary Technicians’ Week this week—by providing the same quality of care they provide every other week. This year’s theme is “The heart of advocating for the best patient care” and the technicians at Mineral Wells take that seriously, according to Clinic Co-Owner Dr. Chuck Lyons.

The technicians “are often the first person you see when your pet is sick, hurt, or there for wellness visits and emergencies,” he said.

Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician Michelle Hopkins said, “It is our job to get you to be able to talk to a veterinarian quicker. We are anesthesiologisst, radiologists, lab technicians, etc. We notify the vet of pain, stomach upset and we advocate for their care on a daily basis. There is a HUGE line of trust between doctor and us and with that your pet gets the best patient care. So we want to educate the public that our technicians are serious about it and want to be helpful.”

Hopkins said the clinic doesn’t just treat dogs, cats and horses. “We have degrees we have taken the National board exam to become licensed and we have to do certain things to maintain that,” she said. “People often think this is an on the job trained field and it was at one time, however this has grown into one of the fastest growing career fields on the market.”
