Counterfeit Money Investigated In Union City, Fulton

Union City, Tenn.—Union City Police are investigating an incident in which Wal-Mart received counterfeit bills. It was also reported that the Wal-Mart in Fulton experienced a similar incident a few days ago and Fulton and Union City police are comparing surveillance photos to see if the offender is the same person.
 
The Union City incident happened Wednesday and Wal-Mart employees said when the cash office was running the money through the counter, the machine would not take the money and that is when the counterfeit money was discovered.
 
Wal-Mart officials determined which register the counterfeit money was passed through and further determined an unknown black male had come through the register at 6:01 p.m. and put $500 on a Wal-Mart gift card. He was using 26 $20 bills. There was a $3.74 service charge and the man received $16.26 back in cash. He was wearing white tennis shoes, blue jeans and a dark blue Kentucky hooded sweatshirt. He left in a silver car.
