Mayfield, Ky.—A Mayfield chiropractor who originally was facing up to 15 years in prison on charges of sexually abusing patients will now be serving only 90 days in jail after a plea bargain was reached in his case. The plea deal also will allow him to return to his practice in a year and not be required to register as a sex offender.
At a hearing Monday, Dr. Stephen McAdoo pleaded guilty to a single misdemeanor charge of criminal abuse. Originally, he was charged with three first-degree felony counts of sexual abuse after former women patients accused him of touching them inappropriately.
In 2005, the Kentucky Board of Chiropractic Examiners placed him on probation after several women alleged he touched them inappropriately during treatment. McAdoo denied wrongdoing in that case, in which his license was suspended for 20 days and he was fined $4,000.
