Paris, Tenn.—A Henry man wanted on child rape charges was arrested for shoplifting from a store in Paris over the weekend.

Brice Lockhart, age 19, of 86 Atlantic Ave., Henry, is being held in the Henry County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Paris Police received a call from Wal-Mart around 3 p.m. Saturday regarding a shoplifting incident. The store’s loss prevention officer told police Lockhart had taken an air pistol and ran into the woods nearby where an employee tried to stop him.

Patrolman Dereck Greenhill caught Lockhart in the woods, with the air pistol still in the waistband of his pants.

During the arrest, Greenhill was informed by dispatch that Lockhart was wanted on the child rape charge.

Paris Police Captain Ricky Watson told WENK/WTPR this morning that the warrant that had been filed against Lockhart involves a minor who is age seven. He said the incident occurred Sept. 7 and involved the daughter of a friend of Lockhart’s.
