Paris, Tenn.—A new dialysis clinic will soon be opening in Paris.
The Paris Municipal Regional Planning Commission approved the site plan submitted by Mainland Retail of Nashville for a proposed development at 57 Commerce Street in the Jim Adams Commercial Subdivision, off of Jim Adams Drive.

City Economic Development Director Jennifer Morris said the proposed development will be the location of the new medical office building, which is to be called the Fresenius Kidney Care Clinic. The clinic will be in a 6,600 square foot building.
Morris said the clinic will hire one to two physicians plus five additional employees. The site plan proposes 27 parking spaces, which is more than required.
The site plan also proposes two 42 foot drives for ingress/egress onto Commerce Street.
Morris noted that due to the nature of the clinic, there could potentially be vans and ambulances going in and out of the clinic and parking lot and the city recommended a wider drive, which was agreed to.
The commission also continued discussion of possible rezoning for the Downtown Business District. The study was prompted by a request for rezoning to allow a self-storage unit on Washington Street near the intersection with Caldwell Street.
In other business:
–The panel approved a site plan from Prometheus Kamperman for three residential duplexes at 805 Memorial Drive. The property is zoned R-2-H which is for single family and duplex high density. It requires 12 parking spaces. The city is waiting for approval from TDOT for the driveway permit and approval is contingent on the TDOT permit.
–The panel approved a site plan from John and Lisa Childress for property next to 4000 Hwy. 218 where they plan to construct a 1,600 square foot office building. Approval contingent on TDOT driveway permit and changes to drainage.
–The panel approved a rezoning request from Bobby Swayne for property at 807 E. Wood St. The property is currently zoned R-2 Medium Density and Swayne requested rezoning from R-2 to B-1.
Morris said B-1 wouldn’t be an ideal zone for the property, but it is surrounded by other properties that are zoned B-1. She said the issue of zoning for that area should probably be looked at by the planning commission.
–Also considered was a rezoning request from Scott Herman for property at 1016 Memorial Drive. Herman requested a rezoning of the property from R-1 Low Density to either an R-2 or R-3. He has an option to purchase it and plans to build either duplexes or multi-family units.
The proposal was deferred until a later date to allow more research.
