Paris Retail Sales Up 7 Percent

Paris, Tenn.—Paris City Finance Director Traci Pillow reported Thursday night the city is beginning its fiscal year with retail sales up almost seven percent compared to July of last year. “We ended FY 17 up almost three percent for the year so this is a great start to FY 18”.

Pillow said revenues are ahead of expenditures in the general fund and in solid waste. “We did not have any large out of the ordinary expenses in the month of August,” she said. “Hopefully, since we’re beginning that time of year for revenue to steadily come in we will continue the positive trend.”

Pillow also reported hirings of one patrolman, Robert Howington; and two part-time employees: Michelle Hill (Civic Center custodian) and LeeEllen Smothers (Animal Shelter attendant).

Five business licenses were issued in August: Allison Transport (car hauling), Ultimate Concepts (bowling pro shop), Fresh Cuts (salon), Turner’s Lawn Care and Turner’s Lawn Service (needed license for work inside city limits).
