Paris, Tenn.—Scarecrows of all shapes and sizes are appearing on the court square in downtown Paris as part of the second annual “Scarecrows on the Square” event sponsored by the Downtown Paris Association.
Everyone has until Thursday to place more scarecrows. That’s when they will be judged, according to Committee Chair Carly Wheat, director of the Carl Perkins Center in Paris.
The Peoples’ Choice winner will be voted on by the public at the annual Spooktacular, set for October 21 on the court square.
So far, scarecrows have been placed on the square by the Paris Police Department, Local Artist Doreen Bates, the Krider Performing Arts Center, Henry County High School, Commercial Bank, The Peddler.
An extra scarecrow also has been placed on the court square by the Carl Perkins Center, but it will not be included in the judging. (Photos by Shannon McFarlin).
