Huntingdon, Tenn.—A man wielding a shotgun robbed a Little General Convenience Store in Huntingdon early Wednesday morning and Huntingdon Police are asking the public’s help in identifying the suspect.
In one of the surveillance photos of the robbery released to the media, the suspect can be seen pointing the weapon at a clerk. The photos are posted on our website and both Facebook pages.
The white male entered the store on East Main Street around 1:57 a.m. Wednesday, asking to use the restroom.
According to Director of Public Safety Walter Smothers, the man left the store and came back in a few minutes later, again asking to use the restroom.
“As he was walking in front of the hot food display, he pulled what appears to be a sawed off shotgun and ordered both clerks to open their cash registers and remove the cash drawer,” Smothers said. “The clerks complied and the man took the cash from both drawers while holding the clerks at gunpoint.”
During the robbery, the man pointed the weapon at the clerks in a menacing, aggressive manner, Smothers said. The amount of cash taken is not yet determined.
Smothers said the Huntingdon Police have been following several leads, but none have panned out as of yet.
