Murray, Ky.—Murray Police found more than they expected when they uncovered evidence of a counterfeit money operation while searching for narcotics.
Sgt. Brant Shutt said while searching for narcotics, officers came across multiple items that were linked to counterfeit money. Among the items was a box with several cut and uncut counterfeit twenty dollar bills.
Charges against more than one individual are pending.
The incident began when Murray Police made contact with Anthony Manning, age 21, of Hopkinsville, inside his vehicle at an apartment complex in Murray. Upon speaking with him, a probable cause search of his vehicle was conducted which yielded multiple individual wrapped bags of marijuana. Officers also found a handgun inside the vehicle.
Manning was charged with trafficking in marijuana and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Murray Police obtained a search warrant for the residence where Manning was staying to search for more narcotics. Prior to officers’ arrival at the residence, other occupants left. While searching, officers found the counterfeit money evidence.
