South Fulton, Tenn.—A Martin woman was killed when the FedEx delivery truck she was driving was struck by a train Tuesday morning in Obion County.
Dorothy Brooker, age 59, died after being airlifted to an area hospital following the accident. She was struck at the railroad crossing on Tom Counce Rd.
The accident occurred around 11 a.m. and she was first transported by ground ambulance to Tennova Volunteer Hospital in Martin, after which she was airlifted to an area hospital.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol report, the train pushed the FedEx truck some 500 feet down the track. The operator of the train was Allen Boone, age 40, of Medina and he was not injured.
The vehicle was removed from the tracks around 4 p.m. The crossing reportedly has only passive signals.
