By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Paris, Tenn.–Two Henry County men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a young Hazel man Saturday night at the Mini-Mart convenience store in Puryear.
Arrested are: Phillip Nelson, are 29, of Paris; and Ralph Vulpitta, age 30, of Cottage Grove. Both are being held in the Henry County Jail and are set to appear in court on Sept. 26.
Nelson is charged with First Degree Murder and is being held on $500,000 bond. Vulpitta is charged with conspiracy to commit First Degree Murder and is being held on $400,000 bond.
Joshua Hadra, age 22, of Hazel, was shot and killed at the Minit-Mart Saturday night.
Sheriff Monte Belew said the sheriff’s office is “extremely happy to have made these arrests so early in the investigation. We’re hoping it will provide some kind of relief to the victim’s family.” Belew said the sheriff’s office continues to extend its thoughts and prayers to Hadra’s family.
The sheriff also said the arrests could not have been made without the joint effort of the sheriff’s criminal investigation division, TBI, Puryear Police and investigators with the District Attorney’s office. He said the investigation has involved “many, many man hours”.
