Puryear, Tenn.—A 22-year-old Hazel man was shot and killed last night at the convenience store in Puryear and investigators are seeking the public’s help with information.
The Henry County Sheriff’s Office and Puryear Police were called to the Minit-Mart at 9220 Hwy. 641 N last night and immediately cordoned off the area.
Killed in the incident was Joshua Hadra, white male, age 22, of Hazel.
According to a press release from Henry County Sheriff’s Captain Adam Jenkins early this morning, the sheriff’s office, TBI, Puryear Police and investigators with the District Attorney’s office are currently working “an active homicide investigation” on the “murder” of Hadra.
In the release, Jenkins said the incident is “not believed to be a random act and there is no reason for the general public to be alarmed.”
Sheriff Monte Belew told WENK/WTPR early this morning that the person killed was not the clerk at the store.
“Hopefully, we can release more information soon,” Belew said. “We want to preserve the integrity of the investigation by not releasing too many details.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 731 642 1672 or 1-800-TBI-FIND.
