Paris, Tenn.—The Little Free Library is now in place in the Atkins-Porter Neighborhood in Paris and is already filling up with books. The Little Library is located at the entrance to the Atkins-Porter Dog Park at the corner of Highland and Walnut Streets.
A ribbon-cutting will be held shortly to officially open the Little Library. The Little Library is constructed big enough to hold shelves for children’s books as well as books for adults and young adults.
It resembles a little red school house, complete with roof and see-through windows made of shock-proof material. A sign will be installed, as well as instructions on how Little Libraries work.
It’s open 24 hours a day for people to ‘take a book and leave a book’. The books are free to anyone who wants them and although it is not required that people also leave a book when they take one, that is always preferred.
The Little Library was constructed by members of the Atkins-Porter Neighborhood Association with donated materials.
Even though there was not yet any public announcement about the Little Library, it started filling up with books within a couple of days after it was installed.
The date and time for the ribbon-cutting will be announced shortly.
