Mayfield KSP Post Seeks Telecommunicators

 
Mayfield, Ky. – The Kentucky State Police is accepting applications for the position of Telecommunicator I for Post 1 in Mayfield, KY. Post 1 currently has three Telecommunicator positions vacant.
Post 1 serves Ballard, Calloway, Carlisle, Fulton, Graves, Hickman, Livingston, Lyon, Marshall, McCracken, and Trigg Counties. This position is responsible for dispatching police, fire, and EMS services in the 11 county Post 1 district. Along with dispatching for the Kentucky State Police, it also includes dispatching for other law enforcement agencies such as Graves County Sheriff’s Department, Mayfield Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, and Eddyville Police Department.
Lieutenant Kyle Nall, who started his career with the Kentucky State Police as a Telecommunicator, said, “The desired applicants for these positions are those who thrive to make a difference. We provide the necessary training to enhance the appropriate skillset, but the character and heart of the applicant will make all the difference. We need individuals in these positions who truly want to serve the public in what is often a moment of crisis.” Nall further states, “Our telecommunicators are truly our first, first responders. They are often the ones who make the difference in the outcome of really bad situations.”
Applications should be submitted online at htts://personnel.ky.gov, using position number 56609BR. Applications should be submitted no later than September 30, 2017. Starting salary for Telecommunicator I is $2006.08 per month plus benefits.
Applicant requirements:
· Is a citizen of the United States
· Is 18 years or older
· Is a high school graduate or possesses a high school equivalency degree
· Has at least one year of experience in the transmission, receiving and relaying of electronic information for law enforcement, emergency medical, fire, emergency management, military communications, traffic operations or as a multi-line telephone receptionist
o College will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
· Has not been convicted of a felony or other crime involving moral turpitude
If employed as a KSP Telecommunicator, submission to random drug testing will be mandatory during the course of employment.
