Troy, Tenn.—A player for the Hillcrest Elementary School football team was seriously injured during a game with Henry County last night in Troy.
The player was airlifted from the field and taken to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital. The injury occurred during the third quarter and the game was called at that time.
The Hillcrest Cougars posted a message on Facebook last night which reads:
“We would like to ask each of you to keep one of our Hillcrest football players in your thoughts and prayers. Josh Clanton was injured during our game against Henry County. The decision was made to air lift him to Le Bonheur. Josh is a student at Black Oak Elementary as well as part of the Hillcrest football family. We would also like to take a moment to thank the coaches, parents, and players from Henry County for their kindness, concern, and additional prayers. Everyone involved in the events that unfolded were great examples of keeping things in the right perspective.”
The Henry County team is made up of players from Lakewood, Harrelson and Henry Schools.
