Breaking: Zach Adams Found Guilty On All Counts

Savannah, Tenn.—After deliberating 11 hours, the jury in the Holly Bobo murder case found Zach Adams guilty on all counts late this afternoon in a Savannah courtroom.

The sentencing phase—and with it the potential for the death penalty—will begin immediately Saturday morning with the same jury, prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judge.

Adams was found guilty across the board on all eight counts: first Degree premeditated murder, first Degree felony murder in perpetration of rape; aggravated rape with a deadly weapon; aggravated rape causing bodily injury; aggravated rape by use of force aided and abetted by more than one person; first degree murder in connection with kidnapping, especially aggravated kidnapping with a deadly weapon and aggravated kidnapping causing bodily harm.

The kidnapping, rape and murder of Holly Bobo occurred in 2011 in Decatur County. Adams is the first defendant in the case to be tried for the crime. The trial spanned two weeks and included dozens of witnesses. The jury has been sequestered during that time and still will be sequestered during the sentencing phase.

TBI Director Mark Gwyn was present in the courtroom for the verdict announcement.

Judge McGinley told the jury the sentencing phase will begin at 10 a.m. tomorrow.
