The Union City City Council accepted a $364,000 bid Tuesday night for the reconstruction of the Union City Police Department in the bank building across from City Hall.
The bid from Allen Searcy Builder Contractors will turn that building into a full service police department.
The council will forego the bidding process and purchase equipment from Wood Communications in Union City.
The work from the facade of the City Hall will now include dryvit at an additional cost of $65,000 and will total $153,000.
As for the vocational rehabilitation center building in the Industrial Park, the city will continue its lease with the state at the original lease payments until February during which time an agreement could be reached between the city, the county, and the state.
The council also authorized the solicitation of bids for the splash pad and will accept the state’s plan for the skate park.
