24th Judicial District To Receive $225,000 Grant

 
Nashville, Tenn.—Law enforcement agencies across Tennessee—including many in our area—will be awarded federal grant funds to support local highway safety initiatives. Approximately 400 grants exceeding $18M will be distributed statewide from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In our area, the lion’s share of the allotments will be awarded to the 24th Judicial District through the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in an amount of $225,000. According to the press release from the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, those monies are to be used for DUI Prosecution Enhancement.
Several other agencies in Carroll County will also be receiving grants: Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Huntingdon Police, McKenzie Police, all of which will be receiving $5,000 each for police traffic services; Hollow Rock and Bruceton Police, both of which will be receiving $3,000 each.
Other agencies locally receiving funds are:
Union City Police Alcohol Countermeasures, $15,000; Union City Police traffic services, $20,000; Kenton Police, high visibility enforcement, $5,000.
In Henry County, Paris Police and Henry County Sheriff’s Office will be receiving $5,000 each for traffic services.
