Paris, Tenn.—The Moving Wall—the replica of the Vietnam War Memorial—will be arriving by escort from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Paris Police and veterans’ groups at 8 a.m. Thursday at Eiffel Tower Park.
The Moving Wall will be erected throughout the day at the park and opening ceremonies will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The Moving Wall will be on display at Eiffel Tower Park from Thursday through 1 p.m. Monday. A closing ceremony will be held noon September 4.
With possibly heavy rainfall expected Thursday, everyone is advised to bring their umbrellas for the opening ceremonies. Paris Parks and Recreation Director Tony Lawrence said this morning a canopy will be erected for the speakers for tomorrow’s ceremony.
Bleachers will be set up for the public. The Moving Wall is being set up in the large field beside the swimming pool, where it will have easy access to parking and public restrooms.
The wall will be manned 24 hours a day while it is in Paris and a canopy will be set up for the many volunteers who will be helping during that time.
The Moving Wall is hosted by the Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, which helped organize and fund it, along with help of volunteers and local service organizations. The city will provide golf carts for people who are disabled or cannot walk the entire route of The Wall.
The Moving Wall and opening ceremonies are free and open to the public.
