Paris, Tenn.—Two men from Henry County set out today for Houston to help with the rescue efforts and to take supplies to the disaster area.
Jason Corbitt and his uncle, Mike Corbitt, set out from Paris Tuesday afternoon with Corbitt’s boat and a load of supplies that were collected from Henry Countians.
Corbitt said he will use his search and rescue training to assist all he can with the water rescues that are taking place in Houston. Corbitt pointed out he is going as an individual volunteer and not as a member of any search and rescue team.
Corbitt has been watching the rescues on television and has been thinking about going since the disaster began. He finally made up his mind to go last night. “We did not have much time and knew we had to do something,” he said.
Michael Prince with Finish Line Car Wash in Paris donated 30 cases of water. Family donated money and other community members donated clothes and other supplies.
Corbitt has set up a GoFundMe page called Volunteers for Texas, is anyone wants to donate. https://www.gofundme.com/umrre-volunteers-for-texas
