Busy Night At The Fair Means Prizes, Cash

By Shannon McFarlin WENK/WTPR News Director
Paris, Tenn.—It was a busy night at the Henry County Fair with several dogs and their owners—including a piglet and a mini-horse—coming away with blue ribbons and prizes, the rest of the pageants were conducted and several people went home with more money in their pockets.
A large crowd was on hand for the annual Pet Show sponsored by Mineral Wells Animal Clinic. Best of Show winners were: Alexis Hughes and her rescued Chihuahua mix, Paris; and Megan Hollingsworth with Dixie.
A 50/50 drawing was also held at the pet show, with proceeds going toward the Henry County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter.
Winners of the cash giveaways were: David Brewer, $342; Lori Whalen, $286; Jamie Bruce, $235; Miranda Miller, $160; and Carli Hutson, $120. The trick is to grab as much money as you can in the money machine while the fan is blowing and all the winners agreed it wasn’t as easy as it looks.
Tuesday will be another busy day at the fair, with the talent contest to be held along with exhibits opening to the public.
