Two Shot At Dyersburg Family Cookout

Dyersburg, Tenn.–Dyersburg Police are investigating a Sunday night shooting that injured two people.

According to press release from the Dyersburg Police Department, an officer on patrol attempted to stop a vehicle on Kist Street for running a stop sign.

The officer followed the car to Tennova Hospital where it was discovered that a 23-year-old man had been shot.

Moments later, a second vehicle arrived at the hospital with a 20-year-old female also suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police determined both victims had been shot while attending a family cookout at the Bruce Community Center Park, on Price Street.

Witnesses report one black male shot into the crowd and fled the scene.

The female victim was treated and released from Tennova, while the male victim was airlifted to Regional One in Memphis and is listed in stable condition after surgery.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Dyersburg Police Department.
