McKenzie, Tenn.—McKenzie Police are searching for a suspect in the shooting of a woman as she sat on her front porch Wednesday night.
According to McKenzie Police, the 21-year-old woman was shot in the right shoulder as she sat on the front porch of an apartment at 306 Walnut Circle with a group of friends. Walnut Circle is located in a housing project in the city limits of McKenzie.
The victim was first transported to McKenzie Hospital and then airlifted to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
According to the press release, moments before the victim was struck, she had been holding a friend’s seven-month-old child in her lap. In addition to adults, there were other small children inside the apartment at the time of the shooting.
Police officers found that at least seven bullets had struck the apartment and a vehicle parked in front of the apartment was also struck by bullets.
