Puryear, Tenn.—A Puryear man was arrested after he allegedly made threats against his family, rammed his father’s truck with his vehicle and barricaded himself inside a home at 3895 Mill Creek Rd.
During the stand-off, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office Response Team was called and after tear gas was thrown into the back window, the man surrendered without further conflict. An AR15 was recovered from inside the house.
Arrested was Tab Green, age 29, of Wilson Rd., Puryear, on charges of aggravated assault, domestic assault, possession of drug paraphernalia and vandalism.
The incident began when the sheriff’s office received a call from Green’s mother around 7 p.m., saying her son had become extremely intoxicated and was threatening her.
According to the press release from the sheriff’s office, the incident escalated to the point that his mother sprayed Green with wasp spray because of the threats he had made. Green then took off his shirt and set it on fire and threw it at his mother. According to the release, Green then said he would return later that night and burn the house down with them in it.
As he was leaving, Green took his vehicle and rammed his father’s truck.
According to Captain Adam Jenkins, a short time later Green’s vehicle was located at his house but deputies were unable to get anyone to the door. The mother had told law enforcement that Green had said he would be armed and if anyone came to the house he would shoot them.
At this point, the Sheriff’s Special Response Team was called. After several attempts to contact him by phone, a Public Address system and running sirens, the suspect remained barricaded inside the home.
Jenkins said Sheriff Monte Belew then shot four 40mm rounds of tear gas into the back bedroom. Moments later, Green did come to the window and exited the residence, surrendering without further problems.
