Murray Police responded to a call to check on the welfare of a juvenile in a parking lot on 12th Street Saturday.
Upon arrival, Officer Robinson located the juvenile in the rear seat of a white GMC. Officer Robinson approached the driver side of the vehicle and made contact with Weiland. While asking for identification from Wieland, Officer Robinson noticed her attempt to conceal a pistol on her lap by covering it with her purse. He then requested that she place her hands on the steering wheel. Wieland ignored the command and attempted to reach under her purse. Officer Robinson then grabbed the arm of Wieland and was able to remove her from the vehicle after she initially tried to drive off. After a brief struggle Officer Robinson was able to place Wieland into custody without further incident.
In the rear seat of the vehicle was Carlson, with the juvenile female. During the investigation at the police station, information was provided that Wieland, Carlson and the juvenile had left from Minnesota a few days ago with the intent of going to Tennessee to kidnap Wieland’s youngest daughter. In addition, the pistol Wieland had reportedly was stolen. Further investigation revealed that the three had broken into vehicles in Murray and a stolen credit card was used for purchases.
