Union City, Tenn.—“Country Pride, County Wide” is the theme of this year’s Obion County Fair, which begins Monday, August 21 and runs through Saturday, August 26.
The fairgrounds will be a busy place with numerous activities—some traditional and some new—that will keep everyone active all week. The Grand Opening of the Fair is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday at the Reelfoot Bank Stage but there will be plenty already happening before that.
Some highlights of Fair Week will include all the pageants, beginning with the Fairest of the Fair Monday night; there will be plenty of contests, a duck calling contest, live music every night featuring different artists, a nightly Youth Musical, demolition derby, a rodeo, Show-Me-Safari, and all the traditional livestock shows and exhibits.
A sure crowd-pleaser will be the Championship Wrestling on Wednesday night featuring Jerry “The King” Lawler and Koko B Ware of Union City. There will be $1000 drawings every night at 10 p.m. and on Friday night, there will also be a drawing for a Lowe’s Patio Set.
There also will be a Farmers Harvest Breakfast honoring the Obion County Century Farms on Thursday morning, Senior Citizens and Special Needs Day Thursday morning and afternoon, a Ken-Ten Pullers Truck and Tractor Pull on Friday, and Pet Show on Saturday morning.
