Mayfield, Ky.—A suspect is in stable condition at an Evansville hospital after an officer-involved shooting in the early morning hours in Mayfield.
The Kentucky State Police reported shortly ago announced the name is the suspect is Andrew R. Chamberlain, age 23, of Hickory. Following the shooting, he was first taken by local ambulance to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and then airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, where he remains.
According to the KSP, the incident occurred at 3 a.m. this morning when the Mayfield post received a report of an armed man walking in the 200 block of West Lee Street. Officers from the Mayfield Police responded to the area and located a man in a nearby hard believed to be the reported armed person.
The press releases states that shots were fired shortly thereafter and the suspect was hit.
