Buchanan, Tenn.—With our area in the path of the Solar Eclipse on Monday, Paris Landing State Park will be hosting an Eclipse Viewing Party that day in the pavilion area of the park.
The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and it is a free event. It will include music, food vendors, crafts and activities, inflatables for the children, face painting, Birds of Prey exhibits—and of course, watching the 2017 Solar Eclipse together.
Paris Landing is on the edge of the eclipse and will have approximately 14 seconds of total darkness.
The event is open to everyone, but park officials ask that you register on the Paris Landing State Park website at http://tnstateparks.com/parks/event_details/paris-landing/#/?event=eclipse-viewing-party-paris so they can anticipate how many will be attending.
Paris Landing is expecting a much larger crowds than usual over the weekend. Park Manager Joan Williams said the campgrounds and cabins have been sold out for a while and all the other eclipse activities at the park (boat and pontoon boat rides, bus rides) have also been sold out.
“We really don’t know what to expect. We know we’ll be crowded, but we don’t know how much,” she said. Park officials urge visitors to arrive early as roads may be congested.
