Puryear, Tenn.—Abused and emaciated dogs found abandoned at a rural Puryear home are now being cared for at the Henry County Sheriff’s Animal Shelter and deputies are trying to find who is responsible.
The sheriff’s office was called to 555 Wilson Rd. Friday morning on a report of emaciated dogs at the residence. Deputy Steven McClure found the house vacant, with trash scattered in the yard.
He found two pitbulls chained to a tree and two others running free. In his report, he described them as malnourished and that one appeared to have a broken leg. There was no food or water for the dogs.
Deputies are working to locate who was living at the home and abandoned the dogs.
